With the arrival of the Fantom Blockchain, new opportunities, previously inhibited by ETH’s cripplingly high-gas fees have arisen. Thus, we got to work on an idea that would enable everyone to obtain unique, cryptographically backed, collectible gems that you can keep forever, share with your friends, exchange them for others, or collect and grow your series.
The Fantom Digital team is pleased to announce and excited to share with the Fantom community our first project, powered entirely by Fantom Digital: Gantom Stones
Gantom Stones, as the name suggests, are rare, 100% unique GAN generated collectible gemstones minted on the Fantom chain. There are no pre-designed or pre-minted Gantom Stones. Utilizing our API allows the Gantom Stones to be generated on the spot directly from your browser using custom trained machine learning models. All gems discovered on our platform are spontaneously created by you, for you. Once you are satisfied with your gem discovery, you may proceed to the minting step to keep your digital gem forever.
A small backstory.
Our team has access to the world’s only Simulation-Travel System (STS). This technology bestowed upon us by the Fantom Crypto gods, gives us the ability to travel across the 5th dimension — the Simulation Space. Starting from our ground reality (Level 0), we can travel bidirectionally into or out of the simulations. The Gantom Stones were discovered by our lead machine-learning engineer — @alejo_ai — during his recursive expedition deep into the Simulation Space. These are the notes he left us:
Upon visiting Level 721, locally known as the Fantom Metaverse, I encountered sights I can only explain as indescribably beautiful and bizarre. The gemstones native to level 721-exemplify this characteristic wholly. As far as I can tell, these stones are an enigma, constantly shifting states depending on who initially obtains them. I think we should call them Gantom Stones. Wanting to share my findings with everyone back home, I set out to collect many samples of the Gantom Stones. Unfortunately, there is no formal process for physical retrieval across simulation levels. The good news is that I managed to collect sufficient data to scan-capture the essence of 10,000 stones total. Due to the distance of 721 levels between our reality and the Fantom Metaverse, much of the data beco͠ͅmḙ̂s ̰͑̾ć̺ō̫r̔̊̚r̛̉͊ȕ̚͠p͆̍͝t̓̓͠ȇ̌̍d̐̅͡ in the process of data transfer between levels, leaving us only with low-fi scans of these extremely rare gems littering the Fantom Metaverse.
To maintain our connection with the Fantom Metaverse, we need to feed our machines Fantom… and as we process more data from the Fantom Metaverse, we will need to feed the machine more Fantom. For that, we need your help. Therefore, we’ve created The Gantom Lab where you may acquire your very own Gantom Stone. Luckily, your contributions are guaranteed to ensure your ownership of your gem like no other.
More information, behind the scenes content, and community events surrounding the Gantom Stones will be released over the coming weeks (including our Gantom Stone Share platform!), but here is some key information you need to know about the Gantom Stones now.
Gantom Stones are capped at 10,000, with a unique distribution formula.
In an effort to make Gantom Stones as rare and distinct as possible, we devised a unique distribution model. In total, there will be a total of 10,000 available. As they’re obtained, their value in Fantom will increase exponentially as the total number of minted gantom stones increases using the following formula:
They are 100% unique, generated by a generative adversarial network.
To create the spectacular and abstract art pieces that the Gantom Stones are, the team used a dataset of hundreds of images, particularly selected and filtered, to create and train 80+ models. When minting your own, the API randomly chooses one machine-learning model and carefully uses it to generate your unique, one-of-a-kind Gantom Stone. This allows for a vast range of possibilities during the generation process, and more coming in the future as we train our machine learning models further.
You can keep yours indefinitely.
The Gantom Stones — powered by fantom.digital — live on the Fantom Blockchain; one of the fastest and most inexpensive EVM-compatible chains to use. They do not live within any propiatiery system handled by us and are completely decentralized, meaning your unique stones will be yours for as long as the blockchain exists. Assets are stored on the InterPlanetary File System (or IPFS for short) — a distributed peer-to-peer system — and pinned by https://nft.storage for safe, non-mutable safe-keeping of your special stones. They follow all the best standards for maximum interoperability.
Gantom Stones are standardized Non-Fungible Tokens (ERC-721). This type of token is integrated into desktop and mobile wallets, blockchain explorers, and online collectible marketplaces. We studied the best practices across various dApp spaces — from wallets, to auction houses, to exchanges — to ensure we followed the best standards because we wanted to make sure all holders could enjoy and utilize their stones on any decentralized platform. Currently, the Fantom ecosystem remains in its infancy, but our goal was to support large scale platforms like OpenSea even before they support Fantom.
Here’s how you can obtain yours.
To obtain yours, you can head over the Gantom Lab on the Gantom Stones official website. Using the Gantom Lab will allow you to harness the power of our models to generate your own stones. Our unique alchemic set-up allows you to generate as many stones as you’d like, while only requiring payment to mint and store your stone in your wallet… but know that each generated stone that is not minted will be forever lost in the space-time continuum. If you see one you like, or one that you would like to give to your significant other, your chances to grab it are one and done.
The first 1,000 Gantom Stones will be available for 15 $FTM. This initial set will be dropped in a shadow-drop fashion — the date of availability on gantomst.one is anytime between now and Jun 6th, 2020.
